How I Spent My Summer Vacation:
1954-1961:  Universities  TWU, Denton; UN, Reno: San Francisco State.  I lived in all those places, plus a few others not as interesting.  There was a marriage in there, but it wasn’t very interesting either.
1961-1966:  Home again, Houston.  And a great time it was to be there!  Copy/Contact in advertising and public relations;  Special Events Producer, Astros Baseball Network and SW Conference Coordinator, NBC TV Sports (Football)
Houston in 1970, I enjoyed a long creer in school psychology with the Harris County Department of Education.  I took early retirement in 1992 and joined the staff of my church, Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church., where I am now Women’s Ministries Director.  In addition to God’s many other blessings, I have loved being involved in music, mostly singing and ringing the English Hand Bells.
1966-1970:  Dallas  Marriage #2 (still working nicely, thank you) and maternity.  Associate Director, Public and Customer Relations, Neiman-Marcus;  the Copy Chief, Direct Mail.
1970-1974:  England  Freelanced copy and some special events consultations, but mostly spent time with our young son and planned travel.
1975:  St. Louis  Nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there (again).
1975-1990:  Chicagoland  Freelanced a couple of years, joined Davidson Marketing as VP.
1990-Present  Volunteer, Alzeheimer Respite Group;  Recently appointed Chicago Region CoChair, National Cathedral Assn.  Professional Dilettante and one of the “Ladies who Lunch”.

Well yes I did look up your pictures in the yearbook just to refresh my memory as to the beauty of Texas women of my youth!  It’s a bit to long to stretch for me to join you to celebrate our longevity, but I thought there might be one or 2 people curious about me as I might be about them.  so here goes.  After REL I went to Trinity University at San Antonio, and after graduating to Union Seminary, in New York City.  Each step up the academic ladder was tougher, but I remained the same B or slightly better student.  My 3rd year of college was at the Univ. Of Allahabad in India where I met my first wife.  I spent the next 8 years in Texas as a Presbyterian minister at 2 parishes-one in the Texas panhandle and the other in Pasadena.  The late 60’s and early 70’s was a period in my life that I would just have soon skipped.  During this time I worked as a sales rep for a book publisher covering 2/3’s of Texas and all of LA.  I left the ministry and my marriage came to an end.
7 years.  Remarried 1971 to Cathy - got lucky - We’re still married.  Have two sons: Shawn, who graduated from U.T & is a Rec. Physical Therapist., and  Jeremy, who is finishing his college work in Computer Science & is employed By Central Point Energy in Houston.
Cathy & I  have been married for 33 years.  She  & our 2 sons
are the best things that have ever happened to me.  We just had our first grandchild last year-a beautiful baby girl.
Jobs I have had - in order:  Finance Business Manager - Guardin Finance & Liberty Loans
Oshmans Sporting Goods - Sales
Retail Beer Distributor - Budweiser, Coors
Pipe Line Service Co.  Only one in the world at that time.  Internal cleaning.  Worked in U.S. and six provinces in Canada.
Bartender and Club Manager
USS now USX Texas Works 17.6 years, Production Dept.  Was caught in the plant closure in 1986.
Back in beer business - 4 years
Kraft General Foods - Maxwell House coffee - Houston - July, 1992 - Production, where I retired. Worked at Goose Creek place as a bartender until it closed down.
My favorite memories are the wonderful times we had at school, Quack Shack, Community House, and athletic events and the love and affection we had and still have for each other.  God bless you & yours.  We were truly blessed to have been friends and to have lived in those times.  I love all of you.
The former probably because of my efforts on behalf of civil rights and in opposition to the Vietnam War.  The latter happened after I had moved to California where I had been transferred.  I have lived in the Berkeley Calif. area since early ‘70 and since ‘74 with Irene.  Between us we have 2 kids who will be 31 and 2 who will be 27.  For the past 16 years I have been in business for myself as a salesman repping various greeting card, giftwrap, boxed note, and book lines to the gift trade.  For about 12 years I also had an importing and manufacturing business with post cards and greeting cards.  The latter failed due to market reverses and owner stupidity.  Thanks to continued good earnings from my rep business (I have 8 employees) and my wife’s work as a therapist I will be debt free by next year.  Which brings me back to where I started in life, but that’s not fair because we have a lovely home in the Berkeley hills with a view of San Francisco, the Bay, the Golden Gate bridge, better yet is the person I share it with.  Recently I’ve found great fulfillment in work in my local Presbyterian church.  My Jewish wife from South Africa and I love to hike and have enjoyed our national parks especially Yosemite.  Our kids have all had a tougher early life than I did, but I am very proud of them.  We are going to have our first wedding this summer--the youngest don’t you know.  They’re a bit socially retarded here, but decent law abiding folks!. Forgot to mention-I’m over weight and balding.
