Shirley, 67, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away Sat., June 26, 2004 of complications from breast cancer.  She was born September 21, 1936 in Navasota. Survivors: daughter & son-in-Law. After high school, attended Lee College and then University of Houston, Clear Lake.  Later owned and operated an insurance company in the Pasadena area;
were in Navasota. Interment was in White Hall Fairview Cemetery. A Memorial Service was held. Thursday, July 1, at Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch, Texas
sold it--presently retired.  Married Herman Salinas in 1960, one Daughter, Jackie (1964).  Divorced in 1971.  Remarried in 1973 to Phil Harkins, a Senior Chemist for Dow Company.  Reside in LaPorte, Texas.  My daughter, Jackie graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, then attended University of Houston Law School.  She is now married and has a two year old daughter.

YVONNE A. HEINTSCHEL, 69, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2006. Yvonne was born to Giles & Hattie Praetorius in Baytown, Texas, on September 19, 1936. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Daniel F. Heintschel. Yvonne is survived by her loving sons; Wayne Heintschel & wife Terri, Charlie Heintschel, John Heintschel & wife Denise, grandchildren; Kyle, Holly, Kaitlyn, Kellie, & Johnny Heintschel, sisters; AnnaBelle Macey & husband Wallace, Marlene Snider & husband Marcy, numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and a host of friends

Please note that my name has changed.  Gone back to the original.  Found out from my birth certificate at age 25 that my real name is Elena.  Guess the teachers at De Zavala Elementary
changed it to Helen because it is easier to say.  Don’t expect you guys to call me Elena, but please don’t add anything to my last name.  That other last name and the person are a thing of the past.  (Divorced in 1977.)  My life is very full what with four wonderful grandchildren, my family and work. 
     2004:  Can't believe another five
our farm - 10 miles NE of Austin.  After 22 years of marriage Jim was killed in an automobile accident.  I thought my life was over at the age of 42, but 16 months later I married a farmer from our community; the guy who always cut and baled our hay.  Even though I had written many checks to him, I didn’t know him very well, but I knew he was a good guy.  Jim had told me so!  We have been married for 14 years now.  Leslie is a “farm-a-holic”, so he works ............and I play.  I “play” at
years have passed!  Time flies when you're having fun--and truly I am.  The Lord has blessed me with good health and a wonderful family.  As my brothers and sisters are leaving us--we were nine and only four are left--my grandchildren are growing up and such a joy.  My grandson, Ali Riza Ongun, is graduating from Rice University with a degree in Computer Science and already has a job.  Granddaughter, Iliana, is completing her freshman year at Yale University and taking the campus by storm--Freshman Council Representative and top grades!  Two other granddaughters, Caitlin and Nadjezhda Laird, are still in elementary school.  All of them inherited their grandmother's brains and are, of course, brilliant!
     Older daughter Kathryn (mother of grandchildren) works at being mom and with her husband, Cameron Laird, in their computer consulting business.  Younger daughter, Felisa, received B.A. and M.A. degrees from Rice University and is completing the second year of Ph.D. studies at Harvard.  The weekend of our 50th Reunion she will be receiving a second Master's Degree at Harvard. I will be in Cambridge and miss our big event.
     My work is very rewarding. I am President/CEO of Community Family Centers--been there for the past eleven years.  During my tenure we purchased our 32,000 sq. ft. building, put in a $2 Million renovation, and expanded from one to three facilities.  This summer we will launch a $10 Million capacity-building campaign to construct an early childhood education center (Montessori) for 250 children.  It will be called "La Casa de los Nińos - Barbara Bush."  Across from that building we will construct a gymnasium and a sports field across the street.  The gym will be named "John P. McGovern, M.D., Community Sports and Recreation Building."  It's a heck of a lot of work--very challenging, but very rewarding. It keeps me busy!
     I'm truly sorry to miss our 50th Reunion, but I have to be there when my daughter receives her diploma at Harvard. Lord willing, we'll be together at our 55th.

Vergara - Elena Renteria, passed away in Houston, Texas on July 14, 2006 after a life filled with world travel, rewarding work, and much love.

President and CEO of Community Family Centers, she spent the last thirteen years of her life serving the neediest of the community in Houston’s East End.

Elena was most proud of the motto she conceived for Community Family Centers: “Dedicated to strengthening families and enriching lives.” She graduated from the University of Houston with honors, then went on to earn a MA and nearly completed her PhD at the University of Texas at Austin.

Elena is survived by her two daughters, Felisa Vergara Reynolds and Kathryn Soraiz; her two sisters Elvira Martinez and Eugenia Barajas and her brother Merced Renteria;  She was preceded in death by her parents, Merced Renteria and Eugenia Renteria; and her dear brothers and sisters, Antonio Renteria, Evangelina Barajas, Genoveva Rios, Jose-Maria Renteria and Roberto Renteria.
making arts and crafts, quilting, painting, sewing, reading, shopping for arts and crafts, and flower gardening in pots.  Leslie has one daughter and together we have 7 grandchildren.  I consider my greatest accomplishment in life to be my children.
My favorite high school memory???  Who can remember 40 years ago!!  Just ask me about jr. high though!!!!
(D) Doris Prinzel Dubcak (Marvin) 4/2003
After graduation I attended college - got married and moved to Toledo, Ohio. Several years later we relocated to Houston.  I had a career in the medical profession until I started my family.  I was very active throughout the years with my three boys in scouts, baseball and school activities. 
Two of my boys live in Dallas and one in Houston.  I was blessed with a granddaughter two years ago and another is on the way.
     At the present time I am very active in charity and volunteer work along with taking care of my granddaughter and traveling extensively with my husband of thirty-eight years.

4/2003: DORIS MAE DUBCAK, age 67, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother passed away April 16, 2003 after a gallant battle with pancreatic cancer. Her courage and bravery was admired by all who knew her. Her memory will live forever in our hearts. Doris is preceded in death by her sons, Tracy and Gaylon Dubcak, parents, and brother, Irvin Prinzel. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Marvin, a son, Jason & wife Janine; granddaughters, Julia, Jacqueline, and Jeri. She is also survived by four sisters, two brothers and numerous nieces nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6pm -8pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:30pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
D Janis Purswell Slagle  (Jack) 10/1998
Have been married to Jack Slagle from Asheville, NC, since October 25.1955.  I went directly into the medical field where my expertise is in management.  We live in the Sagemont area of Houston.  I am employed at Alvin Community Hospital in Physician’s Resource.  My husband worked in management for Sears before 1990 when we opened an automotive repair shop off I-10.  We closed that down in 1993, and Jack returned to Sears, where he is still employed.  We have 2 married sons (Norman and Rodney).  There are 6 grandchildren, including a set of twin girls (3 years old), 3 other granddaughters (7, 15 and 17)) and one grandson who is 19.  Hobbies are oil painting and singing.  My husband were in the Sonshiners Gospel Singing Group for a period of time.  We attend Sagemont Baptist Church where we are outreach directors for our Sunday School Class.
