| Info on Dickie from Loyd Guidry: After Dickie's freshman year at Rice, he transferred to UT Austin where he and I were roommates. He dropped out soon after, enlisting in the Army, serving in Japan. He returned to Texas and for a while worked at Oshman's Sporting Goods. He was traveling from Baytown to his family's fishing/hunting camp in Trinity, TX one night late after work when he was killed in the auto accident in 1962. | ![]() |

| Barbara Stein Sharp 1910 Canyon Creek Court Pearland, TX 77581 (832) 230-8419 BabsSharp@aol.com Gene and I have 3 children, Tammy Alvarado mother of 2 grandsons, Anthony, 13, and Andrew, 7. Rodney Sharp, and Lory Roberts, mother of 2 granddaughters, Shawndell, 3, and Kelsey, 7 months. Gene retired in June and we have now settled down in LaPorte and are remodeling an old house, which puts us right in the midst of all our children and grandchildren. I keep the granddaughters when Lory (an airline attendant for Continental) flies off to work, plus the grandsons whenever Tammy needs a sitter. We are just going through life and enjoying being parents and grandparents right now. We hope to do a little traveling in the future since Gene has retired. I think all of our school memories (good or bad) were wonderful because being around the school business as a teacher’s aide for many years, the students of today just are not going to be as fortunate as we were. I think our class has a great closeness, even though we are many miles apart living our lives -- If we want to check on a classmate we can most often get a report from someone in our class. I hope we can always keep in touch with one another even though we are all getting “older”, because renewing our friendships and new experiences will always be something each of us can cherish. | Most of us remember Frank Smith as the smartest kid in the class. He went on to graduate summa cum laude from Boston University, and from there to Europe for further study in music. He became a concert pianist and was known in the music world as Franz Graf (Franz means Frank in German and Graf was his grandmother’s name). He lived in New York City for many years, but returned to live in Baytown before his death in 1991. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 2004 Updated: I am doing O.K. as are all the kids and grandkids. I moved to Pearland a year and a half after Gene passed away. I live with my oldest daughter, Tammy, and my grandson, Andrew. Tammy’s other son, Anthony attends college at Sam Houston State University. Lory and Terry live only about 12 minutes away in League City. They have a new baby, Madison, who will be two in a few days. I do a lot of babysitting. Their other two girls Shawndell and Kelsey are 12 and 10. Rod lives the farthest away, in San Antonio. Before I close would like to thank my classmates for their visits, telephone calls, cards and plants. Your support was a big help to me. Our class was great back in the 50’s and we are still a close-knit group. Itr’s our 50th reunion and I am hoping we will have a big turn out. As Gene would have said…….LET’S PARTY! |

| America to Canada. He was hit in the eye with a ball in 1964 and that ended his career. We returned to Tuscaloosa where he entered the insurance business. I stayed home and raised babies, five of them! Along the way, we had two foster children and two refugees from the Viet Nam war living with us! During this point in my life, someone said that when they thought of me, they thought of “Mother Goose”. It was right about this time that I decided to go back to college. So mother went to college - a second time, and in 1981 I received my masters degree in advertising and public relations. I’ve been working as director of public relations for Shelton State Community College ever since. I love my job and what I do. The children are all grown now. Mary Kathryn (the oldest) lives in Atlanta. Jack Jr. married two years ago and is a lawyer in Memphis. Dana is also in Memphis and sells medical supplies. Kari just graduated from the University of Alabama and is currently looking for a job. Krissie, the baby, will be a junior next year. She is getting ready to go to Europe to study this summer. Last summer Jack decided to enter local politics and was elected to the Tuscaloosa City Council. It was really hectic but a lot of fun. We also built a house at the beach this past year, and we are trying to spend as much time as possible down there So much for my life. That’s a lot of information, much more than you need I know. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. I know this is so much work for all of you who live in Baytown. I hope you know how much it means to the rest of us. 2003 Update: retired in June 2002 from my job at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa. For 23 years I was director of public relations and alumni affairs for the college. However, from June 2002 until August 2003 I worked part-time for the college directing Shelton's year-long 50th anniversary celebration. This June I opened my own public relations consulting company, Kubiszyn Communications, and have stayed pretty busy. I'm doing a lot of work for a community foundation among other things and am writing a book, "Tie a Knot in Your Coat Tail.". All five children are grown and married and Jack and I enjoy them and our six grandchildren so much. We are expecting our seventh grandchild in November 2003. Jack is still working and we both stay pretty busy. |

We lived and worked in Houston for a short time, then back to good old Baytown. We built our home in Wallisville in Sept, 1961. We moved to Perth, Australia for 2 years (68-70) for a drilling contractor, The Offshore Co. When we returned Gerald went to work for USX. After they closed down, we were transferred to Birmingham, Alabama with USX, where we will be until retirement in 1997. Then back home to Wallisville and good old Baytown. Hope to see everyone in 1999. Hope you all have a great time! 2004 Update: We are retired and living in Wallisville, Tx. We have six Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren abd expecting another in Dec. 2004. They are the joys of our life. Gerald and I well be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 24, 2004. | Jan Stevens Huey (James) 3905 San Angelo Ave., Amarillo, TX 79118, 806-358-8429, jhuey1811@sbcglobal.net IN 1989: Married James Huey, who graduated in 1952. Lived in Baytown for 8 years, Houston 8 years, then moved to Amarillo, TX and have been here ever since I thought I was retiring, but we bought 4 acres south of Amarillo with a fruit orchard and plant a big garden every year, so I stay busy most of the time!! Our grandchildren love it --just wish now that our kids could have lived out here when they were growing up. We moved my parents next door to us, due to bad health, so it doesn’t look like we can come this time. The last reunion was great and I know this one will be as good. Your hard work is really appreciated. Hope to see you next time. We have 2 grandchildren, Samantha and Bret. 1998: I worked in secretarial work for 23 years. I quit work when I was 50, and James retired from the State when he was 60. He is now working part time selling commercial real estate. James and I have really been blessed. We have 3 sons, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, which we really enjoy. After moving to Amarillo, we have traveled to Europe, Hawaii, California and Florida. We are in reasonably good health for our age and are very thankful. Update 2003: James & I only have only two acres now, not four, and have stopped planting a huge garden. With only two acres, you might say we are semi-retired. My parents lived next door for ten years. My dad has passed on |

| and my mother is in a nursing home, so I stay pretty busy just trying to keep the nursing home staff on their toes! James loves to do any kind of woodwork, so we are continually remodeling something. We love living out in the country, and hope to stay here for as long as possible. James and I have both been blessed with good health. Of course, we have to laugh every now then, as we will forget where we put something. But my goodness, everybody has "senior moments" once in a while, don't they? James retired from the State when he was 60, and has been selling commercial real estate part-time for the past eight years. We have 3 grandchildren (2 girls, Jennifer and Samantha & 1 boy, Bret), and 3 great-grandchildren (3 boys, Tanner, Landon, Hunter). Samantha and Bret live about 10 minutes away, and we really enjoy trying to keep up with all their activities. When we moved from Houston to Amarillo one of our friend's said, "Why are you moving to the end of the earth?" Well, I guess they were right, as no one else ventured up this way. We do love this climate, but miss friends and relatives from the Baytown area. We love to get e-mails, so hope we hear from some of you. |

| I retired and then returned to teaching Gifted & Talented in La and Texas. I was coordinator of the Gifted Program the last 3 years. My husband and I traveled and taught from Central Texas, Coast of Texas, Rio Grande Valley, New Mexico, East Texas, and Louisiana. The joy and experience was most rewarding. Especially teaching Vietemease, Foreign Exchange Students and just “plain ole country kids”. My husband and I were a team and were known as “Mr. & Mrs. A”. We loved what our jobs represented. But I’m glad we’re retired. We live in Coldspring on Lake Livingston. My husband loves boating & fishing. We are involved with Texas Retired Teachers in San Jacinto County, Historical & Heritage Society, Sr. Citizens Activities. My Husband plays trumpet in the Polk County Community Concert Band as well as the Jazz Band in Livingston. Beside being a grandma, (I Babysit!) I’m involved with arts & crafts. I have a collectibles booth (called “junk”!) in Coldspring & Livingston. We are busier now than when we were teaching. We also travel & have an Internet Business. Oh yes, we also owned registered Quarter and Paint horses, raised colts & fillies and showed my Paint horse. I miss it tremendously! But, sometimes all good things must go. I miss hearing from many of our classmates. Robert E. Lee was a great school to graduate from & I’ve always been proud to say “I am a Lee Gander from Baytown, Texas!” |
