She is survived by one daughter, Allison Newton of Onalaska; brothers, Edward Trchalek and wife Winnie of Tomball and Floyd Trchalek and wife Shirley of Baytown; sisters, Evelyn Guidry and husband Charles of Baytown, and Avis Irby and husband Buddy of Mt. Belvieu; sister-in-law, Virginia Trchalek of Carmel, IN, and her beloved cat, Prissy.
Love retirement and spend time golfing, fishing, flying radio control model airplanes and doing Honey-Do-List things.  Can’t fly the real planes anymore because I have a pacemaker. I also have time to do things, like putting together the web site  and the Class Directory for the class. Have really enjoyed renewing contacts with classmates I haven't seen or heard from in years.
2008: Lost my friend and wife, and our classmate, Georgann Bynum Walker in December after a long illness.

The thing I remember is being in the choir!  I loved it.  I married Calvin R. Jennings in '53; had three children, Calvin Jr., 53; Sherry, 50; Tami, 47.  I have six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
There are two more "greats" on the way.  I lived with my son until January when I became ill.  Then I moved in with Tami.  I will be coming to the reunion with Betty Wells.  I keep up with Jo Ann Sims-Clinton who is ill and will probably not be able to attend.  (Jo Ann is in need of a kidney transplant.)  Calvin, who was also Class of '54, died in 1975.
I have 3 children, Calvin Jr. who has 1 son Sean Jennings; Sherry Lynn Jennings, Kingsbury, has 3 children Shaina 21, Michelle 13, Mariah 11; and my youngest Tami Faye Jennings, Doyle has no children, but has 2 step children: Stacie, has 2 children Kyla and Zane, and expecting in Sept or October and Christel has 5 Marky, Alexus,Dominic, Xavier, and Ariel.
2009: I lived in Friendswood for 23 years, I was working for Amoco refinery in Texas City.  I worked in the lab running quality control samples to keep refinery within specifications.  I retired in May 1998, and watched 10 babies for surrounding neighbors and my grandchildren while parents worked.  I had worked for Sears for 10 years as division manager before that.
I like to garden and raise flowers.  I help my daughter watch her grandchildren. I have a job now sitting with my pastor's sister who has Alzheimer's.  I work from 7pm to 7am then come help my daughter with housework.  I also take care of my son who was crippled for years.  I finally got him up out of wheelchair after 5 years. Yeh!
Tami's father-in-law is a preacher so we go to church a lot.  I help her in children's church so parents can hear message from pastor.
I was so glad to see my friend Betty and get in touch with all the others from our class.  I really enjoyed myself.

Kay Ellen Underwood Bowers (Pat) 516 Hillhurst  Baytown, TX 77521  (281) 427-1464 pab516@yahoo.com
After graduation worked at the Baytown Sun remainder of 1954.  Trained for airline job in Kansas City and was hired by Pan Am - Houston in reservations, April, 1955.  Married Pat Bowers after his return from Korea in Sept., 1956.  Worked for PAA until we moved back to Baytown in Nov., 1957. Our son Tony was born Dec., 1957 and son Tim was born Dec., 1964. Remained homemaker and mother, earned Realtors License in 1979.  Retired from Real Estate in 1986.  Pat sold his interest in Petrochemical business and retired in 1981.
We enjoy time each month at our ranch in Rocksprings (near Kerrville) and travel.  We dote on our granddaughter Kara, 9 years old, who lives in Humble.  In Sept, we will celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary.  We share an interesting and happy life.
1999: Things are not really too different.  The basics are still the same.  I’m still married to the same handsome husband – 43rd anniversary due in September.  Luckily we are both a ‘little’ older and hopefully wiser.  Still enjoying retirement and an interesting and happy life.  We are active in the First Presbyterian Church on Market Street in Baytown, where we grew up and married in 1956.  Pat and I continue to spend some time each month at the ranch in Rocksprings, in the Hill Country.  We have our family Thanksgiving there each year.  Our sons enjoy hunting season there-occasionally they bag a big one.
Both grown sons live close by.  Tony and wife and family live in Humble, raising teenage daughters.  Son Tim works and lives near downtown Houston.
The past 45 years have indeed been a good journey along life’s way.  As with some of our friends we have continued to live and work and grow in familiar surroundings.  At times traveling to the ‘outside’ world to sample new sights and experiences.  The last excursion we enjoyed San Francisco, Carmel, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
Our Baytown address remains on Hillhurst and we always enjoy friends who come for a visit.  David McPhail and wife, Irene, surprised us.  And Marlene and Harold visit when they come this way.  It’s fun to have dinner with former classmates when we do that from time to time.
The way things are in the world today helps me to realize what a wonderful time we had growing up in the age of innocence.  For the most part our teachers were dedicated and kind men and women, interested in making us contributing individuals
See you at the Reunion!!
2004: How can it possibly be time for our 50th Reunion????
I feel fortunate to be here for this one--as we have lost more of our dear friends and classmates since ‘99. Thankful we can all be together again.
Since last time: we still enjoy our time in the Hill Country, one week a month. Pat enjoys his tractor and raising Limousin cattle. I’m his Sidekick and partner.
Son, Tony (46) works for Ranger Steel in Houston. He and his family live in Humble in Fall Creek. One granddaughter, Kara graduated with honors in ‘02 and attends Kingwood College. Granddaughter, Crystal graduates this spring and will attend Kingwood. Son, Tim (39) lives across from Memorial Park and works for Fiber Link. Tony and Tim enjoy golfing together on weekends. We are fortunate they are nearby and doing well.
In January, 2004 Susie (Hooks) Vandervoort invited Marlene Stewart and me to visit for a week. We had a wonderful time in Phoenix and Paradise Valley, AZ. It was great fun for the three of us to be together again. One evening we got on the computer and spent hours on the Class website reminiscing. Thanks Asa Ray and Georgann
I am grateful for many blessings--life is good. Some of my fondest memories in High School were the lasting friendships made, happy times and Football games and parties. Also getting to be Senior Duchess at the Brigadier Ball in ‘54.

2009 Update---
Patrick and I enjoy each day as it comes.  Feeling blessed to have reasonably good health and each other.  Our grown children  are wonderful to us.  They both live and work in Houston, and we enjoy being with them frequently.
Tony, 51 and his wife Valette have a home in the Heights and he still works for Ranger Steel.  Our granddaughter, Kara graduated w/honors from Texas State in Dec. '08 and lives in Austin.
Tim,44 finally found Ms. Right, Kelly Ryan and they married in Sept '05.  They have a new home in the Heights and gave us 2 little grandsons.  Calvin Patrick, 2 1/2 and Jack Ryan ,six months .  A lively bunch.                                During "Ike" we all evacuated to our place in Rocksprings for several days until our power was restored at home in Baytown.   "I   had "survivors guilt" as our only damage was 3 fence boards from a neighbor's big tree limb.  We had lots of fun all being together that week at the ranch.  I felt really sorrry for our friends who were w/o power for weeks and suffered real damage to their homes.
We are very involved at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Baytown.  I belong to the Prayer Group,UMW--Susanna Wesley Circle and the Evangelism Committee.  Also work with Church Women United, sponsors of both a Thrift Shop and The Child Care Center.  I serve on both Boards.  The Child Care Center cares for 107 children, some are children of Lee College students and the Leeway program.  I'm proud of this endeavor.  My hope is to open another Center as there are 100 children on the waiting list.  There is a huge  need for good child care.
I'm looking forward to seeing old friends at the Reunion.  We have enjoyed the Summer picnics each year.  We can renew friendships and have a great time.
Thanks to the Committee for their hard work in planning everything.
   See Ya.
